CHILD BURN CENTER
Our Pediatric Burn Center is a center isolated from other units on the 2nd floor of the Gynecology-Pediatrics Building of our hospital, where sterilization conditions are provided at the highest level, entrances and exits are supervised in terms of infection control, and fully automatic air conditioning with hepafilter.
Our pediatric burn center has a total of 14 beds, 10 of which are tertiary intensive care beds and 4 ward beds. Our center has an operating room, hydrotherapy room, examination room, dressing room and accompanying mother's room.
In the pediatric burn center, all pediatric burns caused by scalding with hot liquids, flame, electricity, contact with hot objects, chemical substances and other causes are treated. Our burn center accepts patients mainly from Istanbul and surrounding provinces, but also from all over Turkey and abroad in case of need.
Burn/wound care products with internationally proven efficacy and reliability, silvered dressings
and skin equivalent products are used for burn treatment. Skin transplantation (grafting) and skin
shifting (flap conversion) surgeries are performed. In addition, burn-related compartment
syndromes, emergency escharotomies and/or fasciotomies are performed 24/7 if necessary.
In addition, for sequelae such as joint contractures and hypertrophic scars in burn patients
reconstructive surgeries are performed.
In inpatients, pediatric psychiatry support, nutrition under the supervision of a dietician, physical therapy to prevent sequelae
physical therapy and rehabilitation under the control of treatment and rehabilitation specialists and accompanied by physiotherapists
is performed.
In our Burn Center, 1 associate professor, 1 specialist doctor, 1 general practitioner, Pediatric Intensive Care and burn
There are 19 experienced nurses, 1 secretary and 5 staff.
What should you do when a child is burned?
If your child has just been burned, first remove the clothes and any jewelry from the burned area.
After 20 minutes under tap water, then cover the wound with a clean bandage and apply Calpol/parol
If you have a painkiller, you can give it to your child. Then contact the pediatric emergency department as soon as possible.
If your child's burn dressing has been done in another center before, you should contact the pediatric emergency department during outpatient clinic hours.

How do I get examined?
Burn patients are first admitted to the pediatric emergency department after an accident or incident. The doctor in charge of the emergency
intervenes and informs the burn team. Treatment and follow-up after the burn team accepts the patient
by the burn team.
